This book shows alot of great poses and shares many good ideas. Expecially nice are Rick's lighting diagrams and the way he shows how he meters to combine flash with ambient lighting. Also helpful are his ideas posing with diagrams showing how lighting should fall in relation to stances and poses. His hand poses as well as high and low key shots were nicely done also.
I am surprised that Amhearst Media, Inc., did not print this book in color!

I'm a nature photographer by choice, but when a friend of mine begged me to shoot her wedding I was a bit worried about doing it. I baught this book one week before my first wedding shoot. Its very simple to use and read with easy to follow diagrams of positions and reasons why. Its quick and to the point, not getting into the science of photography, and gets right to the basics. I was happy with the pictures I took and the Bride was even happier, which is what its all about, making her special day a day to remember. I've still got alot to learn but this was a positive step in the right direction, and with help from this book it made it a little easier.

Captured by the Light: The Essential Guide to Creating Extraordinary Wedding Photography Review

I've scoured Amazon.com for wedding photography books that encompass the perfect blend of inspiration, technique and overall workflow. And finally, this book arrives. The layout is excellent, with logical chapter breaks, informative call-out boxes, and full sections devoted to natural light, on camera ETTL flash, off camera flash, ceremony workflow, reception workflow, and a few more. Also, some books are pretty dated as far as equipment, but the author refreshingly describes using his Canon 5D Mark II AND 7D. That might not seem like a big deal at first, but in many places he talks about leveraging the amazing high-ISO capabilities of cameras like this with your other settings. For example, in the off camera flash sections, he talks about the use of these high ISO settings to cut flash power by half, thus conserving battery life. There's not a lot in here about pricing/contracts, but that's not what I was looking for. If you know what you want to charge, but want to take your wedding photography to the next level, this is the book. Buy it.
