(More customer reviews)I enjoy a british chic book but this one is sooo absurd and ridiculous from start to finish. the heroine has no redeeming qualities about her. The plot makes no sense. Why would a magazine PA escort a wedding cake???! It was just too many weird thing happening that were so improbable. I could not relax and read this book because something was always happening to her and her inner dialogs were frantic and desperate. Sometimes I would have to go back several pages to figure out what happened. There was no chemistry between the main characters, no development of emotions. He just loved her at first sight!! On top of that he's a mobster who smuggles drugs and guns. not very heroic. Her boyfriend cheats on her and she still wants to marry him??? There was no description of the heroine so you couldn't imagine what she looked like much less felt. But she takes valium like candy, drinks to excess, curses 4 letter words, weak willed, afraid of planes, helicopters, horses etc... If you want a good british chic book read Jill Mansell. Now that's a modern day Bridget Jones.
